wishful thinking

reading my pitas brought back some form of inspiration for blogging, haha :D i feel like switching back to my pitas but then again, i must remember that perhaps that phase of my life is over. no matter what i do i have to move on, eh? somehow i think i cld write better then. perhaps the lack of an education these few months have caused me to stop writing effectively.

so i started reading my pitas when jia hong and i were having a strange discussion about mugging. he claims that "mugging is not his mug of tea" (not funny) and i don't really remember it being mine either. so i was wondering how i survived my a levels. apparently i didnt. haha! i sounded so incoherent and faraway mostly. stressed and frustrated and about-to-give-up most of the time.

well, looks like im about to relive that cycle for the next 4 years come august ;) how delightful.

i wished i could write beautifully but sadly i cant. there are so many things i wished i cld do, or want to do. perhaps i should list them down.

1. to dance again, maybe not ballet, but some form of dance :D
2. to sing/compete in a big choir again
3. oh yeah, to write beautiful prose ;)
4. to perform in a musical!
5. take a year or two off, to do mission work/cip abroad.

that's about it for now, actually. am such a simple person. tee hee.

i dont like falling sick because 1. i have to cancel ALL my plans 2. i end up sleeping my life away and doing nothing constructive 3. it feels like nonsense 4. i hardly feel like speaking.

at least the doctor says im on the ROAD TO RECOVERY. haha. but then it doesnt explain why he gave me enough pills to feed a country! and they taste crappy except for the mac lozenges hee hee.

the smu matri package is here! yay yay! but so much stuff to do before matri, sigh. already have a plan for life in smu - MUG. i want to finish all my courses in 4 years. so must really rush like crazy man. and all the internships to complete? for the next 4 years i'll disappear from the face of this earth under books :D hahaha, what joy.

i feel drained and tired despite long hours of sleep, BAD.

sing sing sing

i went to music essentials yesterday and went a bit dizzy at the number of choral scores there were. so i took their hal leonard samplers and brought it home to listen :D

ahh.

found another simple pleasure in life ;) looking thru songs then finding the perfect one.

i miss choral singing. okay actually i miss singing in vj choir. just the singing. i found the syf and olympic recordings and listening to them makes my hair stand! :D i miss singing in big big choirs with ssaattbb HAHA. those were the days.

everytime i listen to water night and hear the sop 2 sticking out i have this niggling fear that it's me, omg. but whatever, we champed that category right haha.

:D

RAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH i wanna sing sing sing.

the devil's big plan

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons.

In his opening address he said,
"We can't keep Christians from going to church."
"We can't keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth."
"We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their saviour."
"Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken."
"So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners, BUT steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.."
"This is what I want you to do," said the devil:
"Distract them from gaining hold of their Saviour and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!"
"How shall we do this?" his demons shouted.

"Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds," he answered.
"Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow."
"Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles."
"Keep them from spending time with their children."
"As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!"
"Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice."
"Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive." To keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays non-biblical music constantly."
"This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ."
"Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers."
"Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day."
"Invade their driving moments with billboards."
"Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products, services and false hopes.."
"Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important, and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives. "
"Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night."
"Give them headaches too! "
"If they don't give their husbands the love they need, they will begin to look elsewhere."
"That will fragment their families quickly!"
"Give them Santa Claus to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of Christmas."
"Give them an Easter bunny so they won't talk about his resurrection and power over sin and death."
"Even in their recreation, let them be excessive."
"Have them return from their recreation exhausted."
"Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God's creation. Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead."
"Keep them busy, busy, busy!"
"And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences."
"Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Jesus."
"Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause."
"It will work!"
"It will work!"

It was quite a plan!
The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get busier and more rushed, going here and there.
Having little time for their God or their families and friends.
Having no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives.

I guess the question is, has the devil been successful in his schemes?

all night, all day

haha, cymon is a horrible photographer, so all my group photos are BLURRY. haha :D so after playing around with picasa this is the best i can get. such happy faces and such pretty colours!

ok i found a slightly better one.

a job well done yesterday, such a nice warm fuzzy feeling seeing everyone dressed so uniformly and the boys look less sloppy for once :D heh. its like a sense of unity that i havent felt in a long long time.

and this is just the beginning of an exciting choral ministry :D

of blood donations and social nights!! :)

we are the braaaave girls!
blood donation was great fun, giving each other moral support, taking lotsa pictures :D had an enjoyable time, except the few seconds before she pokes the needle into my arm. scares me haha but when the blood is flowing its extreeemely amusing. haha as you can see, we are the brave girls who put all the boys to shaaaaame. cos the lousy boys are afraid of neeeedles. hahaha.

okay so i went for lucas's social night thingamajig tonight and it was very amusing! it was like a mini vj reunion (look at above picture of the lovely vj choir girls - jiayun and may!). i tried counting the number of vj people i saw but i lost count halfway. my table already had 6/10.

i really quite liked the video, though i couldnt understand half the jokes (an army thing) but it gave me this warm fuzzy feeling :D i think the bonds and camaraderie are such wonderful things, and i was a little envious of those boys in green - until i thought of the hygiene and ridiculous physical exertions. haha! but i mean, this kinda experience you'll never find anywhere else i guess. nice nice :D

on the other hand, the food was so-so. so im really hungry now!! -growls

happy :D

i truly enjoy tapping into some random neighbour's wireless connection :D muahaha. but the signal's so bad i can only use it at certain parts of the house.

anyway! i've been uploading too many pictures, albeit really amusing ones haha. i think i shld type more substance into my entries instead of filling them with silly photos. but what's the digicam for anyway? hahahaha. took piccies today with lovely rachel, she's such a sweet baby! :D

feeling happy and good today ;) choir prac was quite fruitful. the youth council finally met. and i feel like the engine has started! slowly but steadily, i hope :D

happy happy excited! next week's gonna be fun. social night, cell group, voice lessons, special music, starting driving lessons. and -gasp! omg, i need to study for ftt.

i was just thinking about how my life is in a very contented equilibrium. im happy and contented with the way things are going. in almost all aspects :D feeling quite relaxed, yet not bored. there are always things to do, but not too much that it kills. rahhhhhhhh, life shld always be like that. though im quite looking forward to school and mugging (yes, so sue me), i'll really miss this comfortable life. where i only hang out and keep in touch with people who matter, do what i like to do at my own time, finally have a chance to be involved in church activities ;)

hee, i think too much.

the pink flamingoes have grown up.

omg, nooooooo. i dont believe this pic is still in existence, but it's so hilarious! :D

look at our HAIR! and gosh, flamingo costume i wonder where's mine!

FIVE YEARS LATER :D !

im glad we've grown :)

BALDERDASH

this is a teensy bit late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHIE :D u're soooo old now haha. hope you do fly off successfully on sunday muahaha.

these five lovely ladies are currently unemployed, thus have all the time in the world to meet up for, -gasp- BOARD GAMES :D
but we had plenty fun! then yuanie came! hilarious, must go back again. now manda and i have all the time in the world to play cos our future school is just opposite while all you other lousy people either have to commute to CLEMENTI or have to fly back just to meet up, haha.
i am quite looking forward to school, minus the social part. then again, im hoping (i have to, actually) keep up a GPA of 3.4, so i'll be mugging mostly. and will probably nt have much of a social life, pooooor me!

lovely lovely.

hello ;) so im not dead yet. just hmm, globe trotting and sheer laziness.

had great fun jetsetting around south east asia (yeah right) :D hahaha. but these two weeks have been the most fulfilling since the year started! learnt so much and made many new friends. lovely lovely.

i wld really love to share everything i've learnt from these trips. but nah, they shall be kept in my trusty yellow diary ;D so maybe we'll let the pictures do the talking yeah?

philippines:

ayn! what a wonderful girl ;) part of this fantastic group of filipino youth i met who made my stay so enjoyable. hmm, i thk we were at fort santiago, tracing the steps of their national hero.

milan moskala, the dentist ;) he looks a bit like mr bean, no? he's this amazing person who's doing missionary work at bangladesh, with his little trailer clinic. read adventist review! very inspiring work :)

pity all my group pics aint nice, but im sure the other youth have nice ones :)

malacca:

the day we escaped to eat a&w :) waffles, curly fries and rootbeer, mmmm :D

jia hao, funny boy! they speak better mandarin than us.

lastly, a group pic! youth from singapore and kulai ;)
haha, the kulai people just called me! :D such apt timing. how nice. wish i cld have said more, but we all know my sad command of mandarin eh? i started speaking english and zi jie was like "ke yi jiang hua yu ma!!"
:(
now that im home, im suffering overseas withdrawal symptoms. think im gonna just be bumming around this june, bonding with my younger brother ;) sounds good too cos GSS doesnt seem fantastic this year and im broke anyway :D maybe i'll start driving lessons.
at least my uni and scholarship matters are all settled and done ;) yay. sent my agreements and stuff, so i shld be setting off to smu this august. although nus and pwc dangled very attractive carrots in front of me, i thk i've weighed my options well enough. or at least, i've prayed hard enough to know that this is the best option for me ;D
am thinking of going cambodia for mission trip this july with pg's group of korean youth hahaha. dont know ehh, it's expensive :( we'll see.
